Hello from Miami!
The New Orleans Saints win Super Bowl XLIV! First-ever for New Orleans. As we said at the beginning of January: At this point the Saints and Colts have the best regular season records, earning a first round playoff bye, and home field advantage. It appeared to some, that the Colts had the experience and poise to send New Orleans home, hopes dashed. New Orleans however, played with audacity. No other word for it!
In college bowl action, the 2009 Football National Champion Alabama Crimson Tide washed-over the Texas Longhorns in the 2010 BCS Championship played at The Rose Bowl. University of Iowa Hawkeyes upset the Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets in Iowa's first major bowl championship at the 2010 FedEx Orange Bowl. First Iowa, now New Orleans, could it be the venue?
It's was a great New Year's Day in Boston, as the Bruins faced the Flyers in the 2010 NHL Winter Classic.
Boston's favorite Bruin, Bobby Orr was in attendance, as honorary Team Captain.
The forecast was for snow and rain, but it was precipitation free, and by far the best weather
of the three Winter Classics.
At the end of 3 periods, the score was tied, with the Boston Bruins
taking the lead in overtime. A rollicking game throughout, with lively puck-action and plenty of physical
contact. Just what you'd expect from the Flyers and Bruins.
This fall saw the New York Yankees win an unprecedented 27th World Series Championship.
The Dallas Cowboys opened a new stadium; and Heisman Trophy awardee and three-time college Bowl winning Quarterback Tim Tebow of the Florida Gators, played his last game at Ben Hill Griffin Stadium.
We covered those events.
As always, look for us at a ballpark near you!
